Reconnect with Nature on a One-Acre Organic Farm
Yash Farm Stays is a one-acre organic farm stay located in Narayanaghatta, just 6 km from Electronics City in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Founded in 2016 by Karthik and Shyla, the farm offers guests a rare opportunity to step away from city life and experience genuine sustainable living, from farm-fresh food cooked over a firewood kitchen to earth-architecture accommodation powered entirely by solar energy. Yash Farm Stays is a pet-friendly, eco-friendly retreat that practises what it preaches, making it one of Bengaluru most beloved agritourism destinations for families, couples, and groups.
Karthik and Shyla began building Yash Farm in 2016 with a simple but powerful belief: that sustainable living is not a sacrifice but a deeply rewarding way of life. What started as a personal experiment in self-sufficiency has grown into a flourishing farm stay that welcomes guests from across India and beyond. The farm is spread across 1.2 acres and is designed around a central courtyard that provides natural light and ventilation throughout the year. Every element of Yash Farm, from the materials used to build it to the food served on the table, reflects a commitment to living gently on the land.
The accommodation at Yash Farm Stays is built using earth architecture principles, drawing on traditional Indian building techniques that are both beautiful and environmentally sound. The structures are made using Compressed Stabilised Earth Blocks (CSEB), rammed earth, and natural stone, with reclaimed wood used throughout the interiors. The mud walls and stone flooring naturally regulate the indoor temperature, keeping spaces cool in summer and warm in the cooler months without any need for air conditioning. Thatched roofing and date palm pillars complete the aesthetic, creating a warm and grounded atmosphere that immediately puts guests at ease. The entire 3,400 square-foot complex was designed by Masons Ink Studio, a Bengaluru-based architecture firm specialising in vernacular and sustainable design.
Yash Farm Stays is a working model of integrated sustainable farming and eco-living. The entire farm is run on renewable solar energy. Rainwater harvesting and water conservation techniques ensure that the farm is as self-sufficient as possible throughout the year. The farm also practices zero-waste principles, with a biogas unit that converts organic waste into cooking fuel, reducing dependence on fossil fuels in the kitchen even further. The food served at Yash Farm is cooked in mud pots, copper, and cast iron, using ingredients grown directly on the farm, a true farm-to-fork experience that is becoming increasingly rare in the age of packaged food and long supply chains.
Yash Farm Stays is one of the few farm stays near Bengaluru that warmly welcomes pets. Guests often bring their dogs to enjoy the open grounds, fresh air, and the lively company of the farm animals that live on the property, including cows, chickens, and dogs that roam freely around the farm. Children love spending time with the calf, feeding the chickens, and exploring the food forest that surrounds the farmhouse. The farm is equally welcoming to families with young children, offering a safe, open, and stimulating environment where kids can learn about where food comes from and how nature works, knowledge that is increasingly difficult to find in urban settings.
Guests at Yash Farm Stays are accommodated in cozy, well-maintained rooms that offer comfort without extravagance. The shared accommodation in the farmhouse can host between 16 and 22 guests, making it an ideal venue for small groups, corporate retreats, team-building workshops, and family gatherings. A central courtyard, a hut ideal for yoga and meditation, and ample outdoor space round out the experience. Every meal is freshly prepared in the firewood kitchen using organic produce from the farm. The farm also hosts a range of educational workshops and events on topics including permaculture, regenerative agriculture, food processing, and natural building, giving guests the chance to learn as well as relax.
In addition to farm stays and events, Yash Farm Stays runs a small eco store that stocks organic products and farm produce, including vegetables, milk, and other items grown and processed on the property. The store reflects the farm founders philosophy that sustainable choices should be easy and accessible. Whether guests are picking up fresh vegetables before heading home or exploring natural lifestyle products, the eco store offers a curated selection of goods that support a greener way of living.
Yash Farm has recently expanded its mission through a volunteering programme at a new property called Yash Farm Forest Stays, located near Benki Falls, approximately two hours from Bengaluru in Tamil Nadu. Volunteers are offered free dormitory accommodation in exchange for participating in farm work, learning regenerative agriculture techniques, practising permaculture design, and experiencing sustainable living in a forest setting. This programme is open to anyone who wants to go deeper than a weekend visit and gain hands-on experience of an alternative way of life rooted in care for the land and community.
Yash Farm Stays is located at Chandapura Dommasandra Road, Narayanaghatta Village, Anekal Taluk, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560099, just 6 km from Electronics City. The farm is easily accessible by road and is an ideal day trip or overnight getaway for Bengaluru residents. Bookings and enquiries can be made directly by phone or email. With its blend of organic farming, earth architecture, solar energy, zero-waste practices, and heartfelt hospitality, Yash Farm Stays offers an experience that is restorative, educational, and deeply aligned with the values of the Prakati Green Directory.
