Zero Waste. Handmade. Conscious.
Iro Iro is a circular design studio based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, founded by Bhaavya Goenka with a single purpose: to prove that fashion can be made entirely from what is already being thrown away. The studio was born out of Goenka childhood experience watching trucks carry discarded textiles from her family garment factory to nearby landfills — a sight that eventually became the founding question behind Iro Iro: what if that waste could become clothing worth wearing?
The studio works with three categories of materials: post-production offcuts from garment factories, deadstock fabric from cancelled orders, and old garments that would otherwise be discarded. These are transformed using zero-waste patterning techniques and the indigenous weaving traditions of Rajasthan — particularly handloom and rug-rag weaving — into contemporary, unisex clothing and accessories. Every pattern is engineered so that no scrap of material is left unused.
Iro Iro operates on a made-to-order model, which means nothing is produced speculatively. Each piece is crafted only when ordered, eliminating overproduction entirely. The studio employs 35 craftspeople from the local Jaipur community and uses no plastic in its packaging or production. This commitment to hyper-local supply chains — waste sourced locally, crafted locally, sold globally — keeps the environmental footprint of the studio unusually low.
Bhaavya Goenka is also the regional leader for Fashion Revolution India Jaipur chapter, reflecting the brand commitment to systemic change in the industry beyond its own production. Iro Iro has been recognised internationally for its approach to zero-waste design and its revival of traditional Rajasthani craft techniques. The brand participates in design exhibitions and sustainability forums, using each opportunity to showcase how waste-positive fashion can be both technically rigorous and aesthetically compelling.
The Iro Iro range includes unisex tops, jackets, co-ord sets, and accessories — all one-of-a-kind or small-run pieces made from whatever waste material is available at the time of production. Because no two batches of offcut fabric are the same, each collection has a genuinely unique character. Custom commissions and bulk orders for conscious retailers are also accepted.
For shoppers seeking sustainable fashion rooted in Indian craft heritage and genuine circularity, Iro Iro is a standard-bearer from Rajasthan. Listed on the Prakati Green Directory as a verified sustainable business.
Iro Iro does not follow a conventional seasonal release calendar. New pieces become available as waste material is sourced and transformed, which means the catalogue is always evolving. This unpredictability is by design: it keeps the brand honest about its commitment to working only with what exists, rather than commissioning new material to fill a product line. For buyers who want a garment with a specific and traceable material story — which offcuts, from which factory, transformed by which craftsperson — Iro Iro is one of the few brands in India that can provide this level of detail.
Buyers can commission custom pieces directly through the studio, specifying requirements for fabric type, silhouette, and quantity. Corporate and retail buyers sourcing for sustainable product lines or gifting catalogues are also welcome. Iro Iro ships across India and participates in design markets and craft exhibitions, where the studio’s process — from raw waste collection to finished garment — is often demonstrated live.
