Project Leher aims to create a Cigarette Waste-Free environment by collecting and processing cigarette butts and making handy products out of them. We want to reduce the negative impact of cigarette butts on the environment, along with providing employment to underprivileged people.

Project Leher is an initiative by Enactus SRCC in partnership with The Butt Ballot.

Our project aims to reduce the damage caused by flicking cigarette butts casually, and increasing awareness about the same. We realized the gravity of the current situation, and the idea to bring about a change manifested into Leher. Simply put, we collect cigarette butts from various sources, clean and process it, and make beautiful products out of it.

Be assured that whatever recycled items we make are 100% toxic-free, as we've partnered with SRIIR (Shri Ram Institute of Industrial Research) for the cleansing and detoxification processes. We just want our streets and oceans devoid of cigarette butts, and create something elegant out of it.

Why Cigarette Butts ?

Approximately 6.5 Trillion cigarette butts are thrown into the environment every year, that’s 18 billion every day. Cigarette butts, not plastic, are the biggest polluters of the oceans. Tobacco product waste contains over 7000 toxic chemicals which leach into and accumulate in the environment. While the filter is biodegradable, it breaks down into micro-plastics which becomes a primary cause of loss of aquatic life.

Through Leher, we create a circular economy around cigarette butts, the world’s most littered micro-plastic pollution containing over 7000 toxic chemicals, by collecting & recycling it into utility products.

We operate in all the major cities in India - Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh & Kolkata. We are working our best to expand to other remote locations as well.
